Why B Corp?

Updated: Feb 13

There are many businesses doing great things.  You do not need a certification to be sustainable, ethical and awesome.

So, what’s the point?

Well, in a nutshell, B Corp is more than a certification.  It is a process, and it is designed to assist you in creating a business that will create a long term positive impact.  During the steps to certification the whole business is assessed using the B Impact Assessment which is divided into 5 categories: governance, environment, customers, workers and community.

The assessment measures a company’s social and environmental performance across all operations – from the overall mission to transparency, charitable giving to supply chain management and toxin reduction to worker benefits.

B Corp certification is about becoming a better business for the long term.  It allows you to see where you are now – just like people some businesses don’t know their own strengths, funny that, seeing as businesses are made of and by…humans.  It also allows you to clearly see where things are not so good and where there is room for improvement.

In a world increasingly fully of greenwashing, and even ‘purposewashing’, stakeholders – be them customers, employees, investors or landlords – want to know that they can trust you.

People care what they are buying and where it comes from, they want to know their money is not causing more harm than has already been done.  As more and more businesses become B Corp certified,  more and more people know about it.  A consequence is that B Corps are sought out – to buy from, to invest it, to work for.

That little logo has a HUGE meaning behind it.  One that can be trusted.  And that is worth it’s weight in gold.

Don’t just take my word for it, the proof is in the...articles:

Forbes: “People are more and more conscious of the things they buy and the companies behind them. They’re looking at what companies do...and they’ll support the companies that do the right thing”

Feel Good Brands: "B Corp status also demonstrates to your stakeholders, employees, customers and prospects that you’re committed to playing your part in building a brighter future for the world"

With love and unlimited active hope,
